Add/Edit Metadata Field lets you create or modify the metadata field and map it to a Discovery search field.
Name
The unique name of the metadata field. The name is used in a list of metadata tags only when the Search Field is "None." When a search field is selected, the search field name appears in all metadata tag lists.
Note: The name cannot be modified after the metadata field has been saved.
Search Field
Specifies the search field associated with the metadata field.
Important: The Dublin Core metadata fields are not included in the Search Field list. Therefore, you will not find any of the search fields that are mapped to Dublin Core fields, such as "Author," "Title," "Subject," and so forth.
Note: You can also assign "None" as the search field if you want to disable the metadata field without deleting any of the data in the asset fields. When you do this, the metadata entered in the field is no longer included in the index nor included in displays. However, the field continues to be included in any assets (with the metadata field name rather than the search field name) with the data entered for the field. You can assign a different search field to the metadata field later and the data will be indexed and can be included in displays.
